Lead Software Developer

The candidate will build and lead a newly formed cross-functional development team. This team will be responsible for designing and delivering a new CRM/OMS SaaS product for the Promo industry aimed at small to mid-sized promotional product distributors.

The ideal candidate for this position is a passionate software developer with several years of commercial experience behind them and eager to take on their next big challenge. A strong desire to introduce and lead adoption of emerging technologies is essential, as is willingness to mentor and guide teammates, including providing general design guidance.

As the lead software developer, initially, you will be working with the Product Manager and Commercial Director to understand the industry and customer needs, while building out a lean development team through external hiring. From there, you will design the base foundation of the product. This position will report to the Senior Engineering Manager.

  • Write high-quality C# code, SQL queries, and other code as required for the product build.
  • Design (or identify a framework) and prepare the architectural foundation of the product for other developers to build upon.
  • Guide team development effort towards successful project delivery.
  • Provide technical leadership to teammates through coaching and mentorship.
  • Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits.
  • Collaborate with other software developers and the product team to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain SaaS products built on Microsoft technologies.
  • Participate in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code.
  • Hire software developers, DevOps engineers, and QA Engineers for your team.
  • Ensure that technologies selected align with the business’ goals and vision of the company.
  • Commitment to becoming an industry, product, and user expert.
  • Ensure that all solutions meet the needs of the customer and the business.
  • Engage with customers and internal stakeholders to provide technical insight into problems and propose solutions.
  • Adhere to high-quality development principles while delivering solutions on-time and on-budget.
  • Provide third-level support to business users.
  • Owning product architecture from top to bottom

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft .NET Framework development using C#.
  • Some knowledge of .NET Core, .NET Standard.
  • In depth knowledge and experience with core Microsoft .NET Technologies including LINQ and EF.
  • Experience designing and development web-based SaaS software.
  • Experience with automated testing.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Experience with multi-threading and concurrency best practices.
  • Experience with debugging, performance profiling and optimization.
  • Internally motivated, able to work proficiently both independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong desire to find ways to improve solutions, systems, and processes.
  • Highly effective communicator in written and verbal English.

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ commercial experience as a software developer; and
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Prior experience in a technical leadership position.
