VP of Supplier Relations 

The Vice President of Supplier Relations is responsible for developing product and supplier strategy, managing, and serving as an advocate and developing and cultivating positive relationships with existing and potential Suppliers. This role will lead the effort of the department to increase earnings, improve market competitiveness as well as develop and execute plans and strategies to enhance the company’s value to the Supplier community.

Responsibilities:

  •  Manage relationships with all existing and potential Suppliers: o Develop Industry leading, preferential Supplier relationships. 
    • Work with Preferred Suppliers to create exclusive promotions to increase Supplier sales through Partners, track results.
    • Expand/promote the company’s value proposition to Suppliers. 
    • Work with Preferred Suppliers to develop strategies to drive the conversion of Partner purchases to Preferred Suppliers. 
    • Take an advocacy position on behalf of Partners with Suppliers and on behalf of Suppliers with Partners as needed. Alert Suppliers to potential opportunities with Partners and assist in conflict resolution. 
  • Develop and maintain reports, as needed, to effectively evaluate Supplier performance, trends and maximize earnings 
  • Coordinate growth expansion of Supplier list, based on executive direction. 
  • Monitor and analyze sales/earnings data and trends; take predictive stance and corrective action, as appropriate, to maintain growth of the Division. 

Required Skills:

  • Have a Bachelor Degree in Business, Marketing, or Engineering; MBA preferred. 
  • At least 10-years of professional general management experience, preferrable with experience in the promotional product industry. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and work with senior executives in group and individual settings, and to facilitate meetings. 
  • A demonstrable and consistent record of achieving worthy business goals. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of supplier rebate and or incentive programs with success in negotiating positive deals that drive distributor performance and supplier ROI. 
  • A record of leading and building successful teams. (Prior reputation as a team-oriented leader player will be a priority.) 
  • Successful experience in implementing, managing, selling a service, program, and/or a concept. 
  • Ideally have a combination of large company and small company career experience. (Have the organizational skills and training one receives from a large company, but be able to operate in an entrepreneurial environment where the staff support is limited)

  • Strong drive, work ethic, and ability to work well independently 
  • Strong degree of personal accountability/ownership 
  • High attention to detail and documentation 
  • Ability to successfully facilitate meetings. Listens, assimilates opposing views, and build consensus with senior-level individuals. 
  • Ability to successfully communicate, negotiate, and resolve conflict at the senior executive level. 
  • Ability to build and maintain a personal network of respected Suppliers who provide ideas, feedback, counsel, and guidance. 
  • Ability to deliver results through teamwork. (Proven ability to build and lead a cross-functional team). 
  • Very strong and effective interpersonal and telephone communication skills. 
  • Above average written communication skills. 
  • Good presentation / speaking skills. Comfortable in front of large groups.
